I love a good YA book and this one had it all! Surprise feelings for the bad boy. Good girl with internal conflict. Desire to please parents. Unlikely friendships. The list goes on.

I loved the author's writing; I could feel myself being transported back to high school. I can't wait to read any of her other work!

Absolutely beautiful exploration of what it can be like to grow up in Christianity, especially as a black Cristian. Portrays a toxic teenage relationship, a dysfunctiona  family dynamic and the healing process for everybody involved through complex and interesting characters.

4.5⭐️ this book was everything i needed! joya goffney does such a good job conveying adolescent emotions and feelings. i related so much to Monique and the way she processed certain things in her life. i also really adored reggie and how snarky he was at times. overall this book was really beautiful and i learned a lot from it!

I rarely write reviews but I had to for this book because this is everything I needed as a young women. Having vaginismus and being very uneducated about it until I got married I felt very unseen. This book has me seen as a young black woman with Vaginismus. Also the religious background hits very close to home. Also I love the found friendship between the characters and how the heroine decides she wants to cure vaginismus for herself. I cried this entire book. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Thank you Joya for writing for the girls who aren't seen and educating people on a very common yet not talked about condition.
