3.5 stars. This book was okay and I don’t think I’m going to read this series again except for the first book. That was the best of the series.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s sweet, funny, filled with angst, and will make you swoon!

Out of this whole series, I think LJ and Marisa’s story is my favorite. They’re both so likable in their own way, and I genuinely found myself rooting for them throughout the book.

Their story is one of friends to lovers and started way back when they were just little kids. They’ve had 14 years of friendship when they each wanted more. They’ve been through ups and downs in life, but have always been there for each other.

The book starts with a fire at Marisa’s apartment complex that causes her to move in with LJ. It’s when we first see their mutual desire for one another, but of course they don’t see it. There is an instance where it seems like they’re going to get together in the beginning, but then Marisa’s dad, whom she was estranged from for most of her life and who is also LJ’s coach, shows up on their doorstep. It scares LJ off from continuing anything with her just yet and makes Marisa feel rejected. Eventually, Marisa goes to Vienna for an internship over the summer and things sort of get strained between the two, but when Marisa comes back she formally moves into the house LJ and a couple of the other football players already live. Things escalate, albeit slowly, for them for the duration of the book.

What I liked best about their story was how intertwined their lives were. It wasn’t simple for them to be together whether because of other people, like Marisa’s father/LJ’s coach making things difficult on them, or their own worries/insecurities. I think all of the tension added depth to their story.

So, if you’re looking for a compelling story that’s sweet, funny, and will make you melt, read The Fourth Time Charm!

This was really cute but and I really enjoyed reading this book but it definitely isn’t something I haven’t read before.
I’m a sucker for a good friends to lovers story though, especially if the male main character is absolutely obsessed with the female main character.
