3.5

3.5. This book throws you right in. They both have experienced trauma in their past (an accident and witnessing a suicide). This is third person omniscient where we get both their views even within the same chapter. Sometimes that can be hard to follow but it was done well here. He was acting quite mad assuming it was his dead ex but considering she was abusive and manipulative, I can see how he didn’t want to let his guard down. Though why she kept putting up with it is a mystery 😂. There is a sort of mystery element to this story as well that involves their pasts. Don’t come here if you want to read about a healthy, happy relationship though because you would be in the wrong place. If you like the mystery, unhealthy relationships, and emotional times then definitely pick it up. The intrigue behind what was really going on was paced fairly well and kept me interested throughout; very drama filled.
CW from the beginning of the book: This book contains coarse language, sexual content, and triggers as abuse, violence, self-harm, suicide. If you are sensitive to these subjects, PLEASE, this book is not for you. Note: book does refer to a psych ward as a “looney bin” multiple times.
