KATE QUINN NEVER MISSES
This is my favourite of her novels so far. What a story! I don't usually pick up such long audiobooks but this was 100% worth it, I'm so glad my friend recommended it. I couldn't stop listening.. it's crazy to think about all the research that went into this novel. I loved the way the characters interact, how interconnected they are, and the sense of dread employed by Quinn to keep the readers on the edge of our seats. Truly, it was masterfully done. I will be reading more of her stuff!! Amazing work!

This was a unique WW2 novel unlike any that I’ve read before- the characters were not cliché or one dimensional. They felt real and complicated. Nina was unlike any character I’ve ever read.

The Huntress has been on my TBR for many years and is among the books I’m determined to read or remove before this year is out. Feeling a little bit over WWII stories I was considering just deleting this title. But then I heard an episode of @booktalketc where Tina highly recommended Saskia Maarleveld as a narrator. Since she narrates this book I decided I’d give it a go. I’m so glad I did. The story follows three main characters - Jordan, a Boston teen; Ian, a former British war correspondent and Nina, a member of Russia’s all-woman bomber squad - whose stories all coalesce around a Nazi murderess. The characters, particularly Nina, were fabulous with some great interactions between them. The plot that kept me engrossed from beginning to end - not so much the identity of the Nazi suspect but whether or not she would be caught. I’d never heard of the Night Witches before, was intrigued, and loved learning about them. This was a case where a great story was supported and enhanced by a great audio. The characters were really brought to life and I was never in any doubt as to who was speaking. Multiple languages were handled with aplomb and emotions conveyed without over emoting. Listening was a real pleasure.
