everything leading up to the ending was good, then I felt like it was ended quite fast.

Argh it's over. I BLOODY LOVED THIS BOOK SOOOO MUCH!! I'd give it 6* if I could even more! Addicted from the first page. I discovered Jessica Hawkins by Accident and I'm so glad I did. I loved this book so much I'm very much like Amelia and the way she was is me so I think that's why I really related to how she acted/felt so maybe I'll find the right guy who won't leave like Andrew didn't yes he did but he always came back which I loved!! Jessica you've found a fan for life now!! LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH THERE ISNT ENOUGH WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH! Loved Andrew & Amelia!

I bloody loved this book. I'm not quite sure I know how to relay that in deep, meaningful words, but I'll try. I have not read the first book in this series, and it is not necessary in order to enjoy THE FIRST TASTE. It actually makes me really want to read the first book simply because this story was beautiful and it must also be. Back to the book. This book showed such beauty; not only in the writing of Hawkins, but in the beauty of the characters. Amelia, I'll admit, came across as a bit hard to get used to in the beginning because she's entirely confident and self-standing, and she's brash and 'cold.' But the transition that Hawkins takes us on with Amelia's character--the Evolution of Amelia, we'll call it--was exceptionally moving. I don't have words for how we see her bloom, learn, grow, love, but most of all, be loved. I don't think there are words that show the magical nature of something like that. I, as the reader, became transfixed by her constant inner strength and then subsequent acceptance of what she deserved.

And Andrew...well Andrew, my friends, is a miracle worker. He is the man who deserves allthemedals because his resounding spirit through everything is inspiring. As a single dad with a six-year-old daughter, whose mother abandoned them four years prior, Andrew had all of the odds stacked against him, but he stomped on them all. Not only is he a devoted, caring father, a business owner, a handsome man, aaaaand a god between the sheets, but in his non-existent spare time, he battles demons. No, not the literal kind, the demons that continually haunt Amelia and himself. Bravo, dude *slow clap*. I want an Andrew of my own who cares so damn much that not even he knows that it's possible.

Side Note: Brava to Hawkins for putting a small literary reference to R.S. Grey's character, Jo, from The Allure of Julian Lefray!

I'm all over novels with single dads, but you'll stay for so much more than that. It was unputdownable, incredibly moving, and awe-inspiring. There was zero unnecessary angst (you know the kind where there's a lack of communication and so much happens that could have been avoided? Yeah, none of that). I was so impressed by both the writing style and where the story took me, and just so moved by all of it. Am I making sense? Basically, you need to read this. Beautiful, moving, and empowering, THE FIRST TASTE exceeds all expectations and is worthy of all the praises. So, yeah, read it!

Loved this book! Yes this single dad stole my heart!! Andrew is a tatted, motorcycle riding single dad and Amelia is a NYC business women...so pretty much complete opposites! The only thing they have in common is their conviction that neither have any plans to date ever again! Both jilted by their exes and still very angry. But together they have major chemistry and they are HOT!!! Bell is Andrew's daughter who is 6 and his entire world! She was a great character, bringing a lot of laughter to this story.

My favorite thing about this book was the relationship between Andrew and Bell! He was such an awesome dad, honest and always put her first. Then there was the relationship near the end between Bell and Amelia, my heart might have exploded with love! I really enjoyed how much Amelia grew, she had a lot of emotional damage but she worked on them all and came out better on the other side. Great story, great characters and great narration!!!

The narration was perfect... but then it was Andi and Sebastian!

I was a big fan of Slip of The Tongue, so when First Taste hit my Kindle, I was ready to sit down and devour it. This is story of opposites attract, but it also is story about personal pain, and learning to trust again. Amelia and Andrew are contrast of light and dark. She's ambitious, career driven, and likes her clean lines and her expensive clothes. Andrew is also driven, but has a child to think about, so living extravagantly is not even on his radar. He has his auto shop, his circle of friends and his family to help keep him going. Both of them have a lot of emotional baggage, and being in a serious relationship is not in the card for them. Sparks fly when they agree to one steamy night, and was transpires from there is the furthest thing from uncomplicated.
To be honest, this book didn't grab me right away, it took me until about 30% to feel the pull of being sucked into the story. Once it got going, I was hooked. This book has everything that makes a story good. InstaSpark, a ton of angst, troublesome spouses/or exes, meddling friends and neighbors, and of course who can forget a really cute kid.
I enjoyed Amelia and Andrew's evolution, how they made each other better, just by listening and letting go of what was considered safe for each of them. It definitely is a feel good book, with end result that should make readers happy.

I popped my Jessica Hawkins cherry when I read Slip of the Tongue when it released. It was so incredibly good that I couldn't believe that I haven't read anything by her before then. But then after I finished it I NEEDED Andrew's story like ASAP. You can only imagine how excited I was when it was announced that Andrew WAS going to get his own story.

I wanted more of Andrew for one reason and one reason only, HE'S A SEXY SINGLE DAD. Sexy single dads are my weakness. In books AND in real life. Andrew is all of that and MORE. Then there's his daughter, Bell. She was absolutely ADORABLE and a mini version of her father.

Amelia was amazing and every scene with her and Andrew was like a volcano getting ready to erupt. The sex scenes were off the charts sexy.

I really loved seeing Sadie again from Slip of the Tongue. Even though this could TECHNICALLY be read as a standalone I HIGHLY recommend reading it before this one. One, because it was amazing! And two, you'll find out who Sadie ended up with since the book centered on a love triangle. I was okay with who she ended up with, but after seeing them again in The First Taste it really cemented how perfect they are together.

I really love how Jessica pushes boundaries and writes real-life issues.
I'm really looking forward to reading more from my newest favorite author!!!

Alright, so I was first introduced to Andrew Beckwith in the book Slip of The Tongue. That book completely ripped my heart out but Andrew played a very small role in the story. I was so insanely excited when Jessica Hawkins announced that she was giving him his own book. Even with such a small role in the previous novel, he was easy to fall for. I mean, what's better than a badass, sexy man that happens to be great in the bedroom and is an awesome father to top it all off? Yeah, he was easy to fall for

In this story, we also get to learn a little more about another character that made an appearance in Slip of The Tongue, Amelia, who is the boss of Andrew's sister, Sadie. I admit that I wasn't crazy about her before reading this book but it was so great to learn more about her character and begin to understand exactly why she has the personality that she does. She was a much more likeable character than I had originally given her credit for and it didn't take me long to fall in love with her as well.

The First Taste was an amazing book. It was a beautiful story of two people with nothing in common but their broken hearts and how they manage to find love and happiness in the most unlikely of places. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't get enough of Andrew and Amelia.
