Audiobook Read (Audible)
Narrators: Brooke Bloomingdale & Lee Samuels
It took me a few tries to get into this audiobook but I ended up enjoying it. Especially Quinn. I loved how patient he was with Jamie but also didn't just take her shit.
My favorite scene was definitely the restaurant with Jamie's friends.
I was giggling!
Both narrators do a great job. I enjoyed their style of narration!

It is a shallow but great book.

Jamie is a commitment-phobe who has been burned by love while the guy, Quinn is a retired model who just moved back to Detroit. They were childhood friends but Quinn was closer to her brother, Alex. When she declared her love for him at 17, he laughed it off and it has been 10 years since the incident.

I loved how it began then we got the whole story later. The hook in the first chapter was good but I wish there was more development for Jamie. She did develop in the sense that she accepted that love exists but in other aspects of her life, I wish there was more to see on that.

I liked that Jamie gave her what she wanted, accepted her and understood her boundaries. He just knew what buttons to push. He knew when to leave and distance himself from when she got scared. I wish we got to see how interacted with his mom with more memories. I am grateful that he did not go looking for his father and decided to live his life.

Great story with a potential to be more.

I finally finished this series so I can share my reviews. Man Candy is book one of the series, but I had already read book 2 a year or so ago. Oops.

Jamie confessed her love to Quinn when they were younger and he laughed in her face. She swore off love after that and hasn’t had a long term relationship since.

Quinn has been a successful model and flying all over the world, but after a tough year is trying to decide what to do next. So he moves into his best friends apartment who is also Jamie’s brother.

So while Jamie isn’t too happy Quinn moved in having him just downstairs is leading her to believe maybe they can have some benefits.

Quinn is determined to prove to Jamie that she does believe in love. The stunts pulled on both sides were hilarious and Quinn’s nicknames to annoy Jamie were too cute.

Overall a cute fast read with some laughs, some struggles, some heartfelt moments, and all the sexy good times you expect in a Melanie Harlow read.

DNF at 9% - I don’t think it as really the book’s fault and maybe I should try again later. Just didn’t feel the vibe of the book. 🙈

I’ve said this several times, but Melanie Harlow is one of the very few romance authors who makes their characters ACTUALLY bond, connect and therefore fall in love through NORMAL conversations and banter. As always, she delivered that with this book.

However.

The way the narrative was set up, you would have thought Jaime had had some sort of traumatizing breakup when she was around 21 or 22 that resulted in her fear of commitment. There were some parts hinting at that—I swear I’m not talking out of my ass here, you can go to your copy and look for them yourself—but no.

So it just bugged me so much. It seemed like it was set up for this big reveal of her past, but at the end there was none of that???
