This is book was highly readable and I got through it quickly. I enjoyed it until the ending. The ending was frustrating and disappointing.  I’m all for a smart cunning female character but
I hate how Karen faked her abuse. It perpetuates the myth that women experiencing DV are lying. It was just disappointing.

“We fall in love with an ideal, not a reality”

➡️ linear timeline
👥 POV: multiple 3rd person
🏎 Pace: fast

💭 Amnesia trope, which is my least favorite, but I do appreciate that none of the other characters really believe it either. Very much a procedural/domestic type of mystery thriller. The POVs with police detectives are interesting, a lot more CSI view than I was expecting. Now, let’s talk about Tom.  If there were one emoji to encompass my emotions about him it would be a HARD eye roll 🙄.  The neighbor I kinda had an inkling of what was going to happen. The wildest part was maybe the last 5 minutes. I thought I had guessed the ending but I wasn’t entirely right.

⚠️ stalking, murder, abuse

the characters are boring and there is far too much focus on the nitty gritty of their moment to moment emotions as a response to the plot events. the characters are pretty one dimensional as well. extremely slow burn but in a bad way. the ending its very predictable and not satisfying at all–especially considering its entirely laid out for the reader over the course of the final third of the novel.
