Not gonna lie, this was unexpectedly dark. Take 1984 and Warrior Cats and make it owls and you get this book. I watched the movie first and thought “wow, that’s pretty dark for a kids movie” but dear god does it get worse. Still, that was super entertaining. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and this book was fast paced and easy to get through. Some of the jokes really had me cackling (especially when Twilight started full on dissing those two owls while fighting them, you go get em, rap-god).

This was a really fun middle grade read! I want to read the whole series. I really like the characters and want to learn more about what is going on. I love owls so I have had fun looking up each type of owls as they are introduced.

Shelving these books to honor my 10-year-old self.

Loved it! Found it surprisingly dystopian for a kids book. Loved all the characters, especially Gylfie. I find the duo is very clever and fun to follow. I'm very curious about the evil owls and the whole brainwashing thing. The writing is slow in some parts, but it moves at a steady pace, so I didn't find it difficult to read. Excited for the next one!

I've forgotten enough about these books that it's almost like reading them for the first time again, or like remembering a recurring dream.

I read this book when I was very young, it was one of my favorites even though I hadn’t read any of the other books. But now I’ve reread it and it continues to be fantastic. The characters are wonderful and very easy to get attached too, which makes it even harder when something happens to them. The plot is a rollercoaster of emotions and the ending battle of the climax had me shaking.

Just listened to this book again. A good adventure with mainly black and white themes, but just enough gray for young readers to ask a few questions. I can see why I enjoyed it so much as a kid. I'll try to listen to as much of the series as I can while my audible trial is valid. It's a shame I did not get to read very far into the series when I was young.
