I don't generally read mysteries and wasn't expecting to get one in this book based on the title and cover. This was a light, fun read, but I will probably skip the rest of the series. I enjoy Meg Cabot's books because they always make me laugh.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! This is my first Meg Cabot book, but for sure, I am going to read more. I love Ms. Cabot's writing style - it's wonderful! Heather Mills, a pop teen icon, who has just lost her record deal and her famous boy band boyfriend, is working as a resident assistant at New York College. After two deaths occur in her residence hall, Heather suspects foul play. She's right and in the end catches the murderer, with the help of Cooper, her ex's brother, with whom she lives. I am most definitely looking forward to the next book in this series! An excellent, funny and fast read!

About three things I was absolutely positive. First, this was officially the first chick-lit murder mystery book I had read. Second, I absolutely had to know who had committed the crimes. And third, I wanted nothing more than for the heroine to get the hero by the end of the book.

While we were travelling around the countryside on our road trip, I noticed a Meg Cabot omnibus for £3 comprised of Size 12 is Not Fat and Size 14 is Not Fat Either. I had never heard of Meg Cabot nor had I read a book of the chick-lit genre before but I needed some light reading after all of that travelling and on account of my flu.

The thinly disguised comment at the beginning of this post has to do with my dawning realisation, very early on in this book, that Twilight by Stephenie Meyer was in fact nothing other than a chick-lit novel with a vampire lead male. Except that the leading women in chick-lit novels usually develop some self-esteem or sense of self-worth by the end of the first book (or at least the sequel!) and Meyer was quite happy keeping Bella at the vacuous, oblivious stage throughout most of the series.

With that massive tangent out of the way, I'll just say that Size 12 is Not Fat delivered. I needed something light and entertaining and that is what I got. A lot of readers found certain aspects of the book annoying, for example the lead character Heather keeps saying "dorm - I mean residence hall". Having read the Amazon reviews before digging into the book however, I was prepared for this and basically ignored it.

The book was good enough that I'm going to dig straight into the sequel (seeing as it is part of the same omnibus). I can't envisage reading too many of these books and will probably be gagging for something less vanilla after that but yes, perfect for now.

I love Meg Cabot but I don't really read mysteries, so idk if this one was really for me. I liked the character of Heather enough to pick up the next one, though. Would be good for a school - some very PG romance (mentions of sex), drama and crime, and celebrity.

Cute, light, chick lit. I needed this kind of book after reading my last book. Likable characters, but I got really sick of the "not dorm, residence hall" line. That was getting on my nerves.

I have a major thing for Meg Cabot or when I was a teenager I had a major thing for Meg Cabot, now I'm older and wiser I still enjoy reading her books but I'm not as addicted to this book as I wanted to be.

It felt immature, like I should have been younger reading this and I'm not like ancient yet btw I'm a young 22 year old but maybe I should be 18/19 and thats probably why this book doesn't hook me as much as I wanted it to. It actually took me a few days to actually read it instead of like he one day it would normally take me to read a book like this...

So overall I enjoy this book but I'm not sure I'll read the next one...
