A poignant and compelling book, a moving story, a lovely and clever main characters.
I loved the storytelling and the style of writing, the story kept me hooked and moved me.
Highly recommended.

A girl gets handed off to be fostered by an aunt and uncle in the country, where care, attention, food and love is in abundance - unlike the poor conditions she comes from, and goes back to. The story is suttle and beautifully told.
Another reminder of how poor Ireland was very recently (this takes place in the 1980s)
