I could not finish this. While the language in the first book was grating, the slight buildup of tension between the leads kept me reading. In this book the ridiculous “modern” language remains, while the push and pull between the MCs left me more irritated than anything.

Its better than the last book! Is it good? IDK. The story is STARTING to take shape, and the chemistry between the main characters is much better. The smut is top tier. The writing has improved, but still not my personal cup of tea. I am not sure if I'll continue the series but perhaps next time Im in the mood for some fluffy (pun intended) erotica.

this was just as absurd, with just as much laughably bad, cringe-worthy dialogue as the first book, but somehow managed to be a smidge more enjoyable. i chalk that solely up to the last few chapters of the book, where a plot developed! a scheme was undertaken! and the reader was given breadcrumbs to follow instead of being force-fed information via a costumed butler!

if you have a trashy reality TV guilty pleasure, this book may be for you. once i got past (read: accepted, begrudgingly) the many, many flaws this book has, and focused all of my energy on the relationship between finley and nyfain, it wasn't....terrible. the last few chapters were especially exciting, but i'm not sure i can, in good conscience, recommend this as a read for anyone who has read even one good fantasy romance book in their life.

it's silly, it's problematic, it's full of sex to the detriment of plot, pacing, dialogue, and any of the things usually integral to a story's composition, but despite that...it was sort of fun? i'm not sure if it was actually better than its predecessor, or if i merely desensitized myself by reading these back to back. 2 stars for the scheming. (and a little for the smut. just a little.)

Wow! That letter at the end nearly broke me. I can't believe their are still two more books to go. My only qualm with this series is that there are times where scenes seem a bit drawn out. Overall, loving this retelling.

"That meant he wasn’t just protective of his library because it belonged to him—he enjoyed reading, too. As if the man needed to be any sexier."

OH EM GEE!!! The hanger is intense! I love how the build gets better and better. Hadriel gets funnier and funnier and I absolutely love it! The spice is on point and can’t wait for book 3!! Highly recommend

I enjoyed this much more than the first one. The spice was 4.5/5 (if you know you know). Compared to the first book, the sequel had greater plot details, background knowledge, and overall better planning. It introduced the demon king and gave more insight into the curse, and who Finley is as a character and her history. It affirmed what I had been expecting at the last chapter and I’m impressed with the set up for book 3. I’m ready to dive in and see where this story will unfold and what will happen with Finley and Nyfain’s love story and if they will finally be able to become true mates once and for all.

Once again I'm at a loss at what to say about this book. Much like the first one, I spent most of the book thinking about how I probably won't continue the series, but the at the very end, the author hooked me into wanted to read the next one with a good plot twist that was missing during the majority of the book. I think I was just not vibing with excessive/unnecessary sex scenes that made me want to skim along so I can continue the story line. Sure they were spicy and well written but at some point it just feels like too much of that and not enough plot.... Dont get me wrong, I love a good spicy scene as much as the next person but something about this book just did not appeal to me.

That being said, I'll probably finish the series anyway.

Finley is determined to find a way to break the curse, restore the Kingdom and live HEA with her prince, while Nyfain is trying to protect Finley any way he can and they are often at odds as to how to achieve their ultimate goals. The romance between Finley and Nyfain takes off and it’s spicy. I am really loving this series and can’t wait for the next book
