the first part was such a letdown that i was pleasantly surprised with the rest of the book. the later parts were so reminiscent of cmbyn and the almost meandering style of thought and intrigue that it saved the first part's fumble with grace.

There is a lot going on with this book and I was swinging between a 2 and 3.5 while reading.

The writing style is distinctively Aciman and it’s an easy holiday read for the most part which I enjoyed.

However, there were a lot of things that I didn’t like. Aciman seems to be suggesting that the only way love can exist is obsessively, instantly and with massive power (and age) imbalances. This makes sense in the original due to Elio’s age but here it was just bizarre. The sex scenes made me feel yuck due to the above and the constant incest innuendo (????). The characters were often melodramatic and sleazy and the few female characters were just objectified with little substance.

It retains the essence of Call Me By Your Name but didn’t succeed in the way the original did

I had a Friend share that, "If Call Me by Your Name tore you apart, Find Me will put you back together." Thank you for the recommendation, Leah, my sweet and tender Friend

A highly imprevisible and uneven novel. The only good aspect from my perspective is the very good writing style, Aciman writes well.
But the first part  with Elio's dad and the girl from the train irked me in the worst possible way. Everything from the age difference between the father and the girl he meets which begins to show as some kind of fascination from the author to the casual mention of incest displeased me. i mean wtf andré.
The whole variations around the theme of piano were one of the most elaborate part of the book, but mostly, it felt as an endless and pointless rambling about vain emotions.
The final reunion of Elio and Oliver was epic because of how flat it felt.
Overall, "Find me" reads like a hybrid of a YA pick me and long-winded banalities about love, forced onto the barest thread of a plot.
This is so far away from the nuanced yet vivid depiction of a first love from "Call me by your name" that the disappointment probably causes me to be harsher than I would have been if I hadn't read that first novel.
