This was an lovely twist on the Cinderella story. The “prince” has more authority over his story but at times can be a bit of a dunce. The third act tends to drag and I found myself skimming just to get to the next segment of the story but other than that it was a beautiful revision to a love story we all enjoy.

Good book. Reminded me a little of the movie Ever After.

The Captive Maiden was a good retelling of the classic (and one of my favorite tales) Cinderella. The plot was enjoyable, but I found the characters to be a bit repetitive in their thoughts. Still, a great retelling.

Cute book. I am a sucker for fairy tales. I like this Cinderella version. I thought it had some different twists in it. I was sucked in from the beginning. I liked how it talked a lot about how "Cinderella" coped with all the bad things. Very interesting. I didn't like how some of the talking between her and the prince. Kinda silly. Still great read.

This is the first book by this author that I have read and I greatly enjoyed it. This is now my favorite retelling of Cinderella. Good plot, interesting characters, strong heroine, worthy and honorable hero, they both grow in some ways, and I loved their faith. I will definitely check out the other novels of this series.
