All in all the book was a fun read. I do recommend reading the series from the beginning. Without the previous books it falls flat. I read this as a stand alone. Also, keep in mind that this was published in 1996.

I enjoyed the psychics as they were all interesting characters. Electra was fun, and Matt was interesting. Max creeped me out the entire book. Can't put my finger on why.

Louie was cute and some of the scenes were fun. Though, there were many that had nothing to do with the case.

There were many scenes from Temple's or Matt's pov that didn't further the case either. But it is a series so I can understand why. I just wanted more from the case itself. The reveal wasn't as satisfying as I wanted it to be, but it's fine.

The book aged poorly in some places. The comments on
SpoilerGandolph wearing women's clothing being predatory and gross, while using the outdated term "transvestite"
, Temple putting her shoes on "like a good little geisha girl", and few other things are weird signs of what year this was published in. They don't happen often but it is in there.

I'm still interested in reading more from this author/series. I don't feel like this is her strongest book, so I'd love to give another one of her books a chance.

I had a little bit of a hard time getting into this one for some reason, but once I did, I enjoyed it, though not as much as the others of the series. This is not to say that I won't reread it at some point, as I am sure I will.

I did quite like Louie's description of the first seance.
