I started following KL Randis on Instagram a while back and then later found out she wrote and published her own book about her life.

This was definitely hard to read at times. At one point I was reading it on my flight and started crying and was hoping no one thought I was a lunatic. It's sad... but more than that it makes you angry.

"What happens... If someone didn't know that this stuff was wrong? Like, what happens if they didn't know they could say no? What if the thought this happened to everyone so they never knew they didn't have to do it?"

"You can have four people go through something exceptionally traumatic, and one of those people will have a higher resilience to coping..."

This is why it's so important to teach children about consent and what it means from a young age. It was strange to read about the casuallness of SO, and how children can adapt to everything and get truly brainwashed.

The legal system and authorites needs to be better. Both in Sweden and in the US.

A LOT FOR 246 PAGES! Books based on true stories are always more compelling. Her story elicited emotion, a sense of urgency, and a need to know the outcome. Unlike cop or crime shows that end after the trial, this story goes further to provide closure on the various family members. The title of the book weaved-in well. Brook Nolan is someone you want to root for. And there are several 'characters' that will make your blood boil.

Heartwrenching

This book moved me to tears on more than one occasion. The strength and determination by Brooke is truly unbelievable.

Pretty good, very sad. It’s hard for me to give depressing real-life stories 5 stars. Can’t believe people can be such horrible parents. The dad was absolutely horrible, but we can’t forget about the mom either. Both of them were no good.
