Fantastic continuation to the first book, expands on the universe and adds to the story without missing a beat or dropping in quality. Definitely recommend and will be picking up the next one.

This book does an excellent job of setting me up to think something is going to happen and then pivoting and going completely elsewhere in these constant little subversions. I keep going "I recognize this trope, I know where we're going" and just nope, not there. I love it.

This book pulled off making me actively reconsider my opinion of a character I considered irredeemably annoying (Hiro). They're still kind of annoying, but I will recognize good writing and character work.

a fantastic follow up to one of my favourite new series. WOW. It's still queer. It's still in space. and boy did it deliver. I loved every minute of it. The political betrayals were crazy. The fight scenes were so well done. The plot picks up right with the First Sister leaves off. I love am in love with this story. I cannot wait to read the next book. I am dying to know what happens. I need the third book. This story has so many layers, so many points of intrigue. Lewis does a wonderful job at continually expanding her world with her immaculate building style. The only thing that drove me crazy was that there were 4 POVs instead of 3. Adding in that fourth POV made the distance between characters a longer. I kept having to stop and try to remember what happened at the time we saw this character because it was 60 pages ago and a whole hell of a lot more plot points later. I do like how they added character names to each of the chapter headings. That made it much easier to read. The cliff hangers at the end of this story are killing me and I am going to apply for the ARC when it become available.
