Pretty solid. Writing style was too casual for me. Behavioral science was alright, and I appreciated the accidental allusions to narrative therapy. However, it did feel that her data was cherry picked to make her argument sound undeniable, but then again I suppose that's how all pop psych books are (and honestly so are actual research studies).

Read this as a relative newlywed and still managed to learn some things. At the very least it let me reflect on my own experiences. Definitely could have been more queer and trans inclusive. They existed, but with zero depth or discussion of any studies at all. Which is a bit absurd because there is data on queer relationships now it just didn't fit with the generally heteronormative audience of the book.

A really helpful guide on finding love, and keeping it.

Listen. I consider myself a romantic in life, but in love - nothing. I've never bothered. So a book like this, for me, functioned as a really good introduction to the world of dating, of how to do it right and how to do it well. This book is definitely aimed at people with more experience who are tired of the state of their dating lives, but I still found it really useful and illuminating in a lot of regards. There was a lot of stuff that I'd never even considered before. Even though I'm not really interested in dating, I'm glad I read this because I feel more knowledgeable on what healthy relationships look like and how they function, as well as how to build one. I'll probably revisit this one in the future when I need a refresher. A really good launching off point, at least for me.
