Holy sh*t I love this book so much. I’m mad at myself for not reading it sooner. Juliet is the queer brown icon I wish I’d had as a closeted queer youth. Watching her growth and struggle with defining both her queerness and her feminism resonated with me deeply and I wish those were internal struggles and self reflection that everyone (specifically white cis women) took the time to have. I saw myself in her and in the women around her. I don’t want to give too much away, but this book is worth all the hype and will forever hold a special place in my queer heart.

Even though this is set in 2003, the concerns and problems raised around Harlowe, the main character's idol who is a white feminist, feel very relevant to today's discussions about white feminisim and white centering. Juliet was such a warm character and I really enjoyed this.
