I especially loved The Queen; I felt that I really connected with Amberly.

--If you're going to read this, please be aware, this review contains a little rant. I don't want to offend anybody! --

I'm shocked. When I started the selection series in what now feels like a long time ago, I really liked it. Now I just can't think of anything else than 'extremely superficial' when thinking about this series.
But, nevertheless, I picked up this short-story bind up. I remember finding the first bind up quite interesting, above all Maxon's point of view, but this book was a total fail.
Especially the novella about the Queen made me very upset. Was this story supposed to be romantic? The king is a total jerk and all she does is thinking about how gorgeous he looks. My God, this guy told her he likes controlling things, he is bossy with her and not charming in any way! He basically tells her: 'Just train to say yes' when she is upset about becoming queen. If the purpose of this story was showing me how blind love can make a person, then bravo and well done, but I doubt it and so I'll hopefully never have to think about this story again.
The Favorite was also not really my cup of tea. I just don't think you can put a whole love story in 30 pages. It made the whole story of Carter and Marlee a bit ridiculous.
Hard core fans who don't mind little depth in their reads should definitely read it. Everyone else should spend his money on something other.

PS:
In the German edition, there is also an interview with Kiera Cass. It was very funny!

La Reina, está bien, pero La Favorita tiene un fallo. Me lía muchísimo que esté todo el rato yendo del pasado al presente.
Por lo demás todo "perfe".

Thank you Harper Audio for providing this copy in exchange for an honest review.

It used to be novellas added something to the overall story experience, but sadly, that was not the case here for me. The audio aspect is fine, but the story itself felt contrived. Basically, if you've read The Selection Series, you've read these too.

I can appreciate wanting to know more about side characters, however, it's good to remember they were side characters for a reason. Sometimes using the information the author has already provided in the full length books, along with a little imagination is enough.

De favoriet gelezen en leuk als kleine extra maar niet uitermate bijzonder.
