Fun read, I think this is suitable for younger children. I definitely wish I had the chance to read these when I was younger.

I can't say enough about how much I love Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales and this chapter is one of my favorites so far. Great book period but would be especially great to hand to kids who are Hamilton fans because, of course, a lot of familiar faces and events pop up. Lafayette is also a character that I think is really easy for younger readers to get behind and cheer on.

of course it was educational and funny, but in general there was something endearing about lafayette that wanted to root for him the entire time

Since I was born in Lafayette and went to college in West Lafayette, I just had to read this. (Lafayette was even an answer for Final Jeopardy recently.) Hale does a nice job of showing how ridiculous some situations are, and it can't be easy to keep characters straight when you don't have a lot beyond hairstyles, which are similar, and hats to differentiate. I did find myself doing some further research for things that still weren't clear.

Great graphic novel to recommend to my middle school students. Action, humor, and history all mixed up in one.

Obviously, this is the easy one to sell to your upper elementary/middle/high school 'Hamilton' fans that want to know more about the fastest rapper of the revolutionary war! Hale covers the first half of Lafayette's life, stopping right at the French Revolution because that would be a whole other book (oh and I DO hope he does that one too!!)

There is also a mini-comic in the middle about Benedict Arnold because history is connected people so these guys all met up with each other! I would be nice to get a full comic book about Arnold, but kids can just read [b:The Notorious Benedict Arnold: A True Story of Adventure, Heroism & Treachery|8685554|The Notorious Benedict Arnold A True Story of Adventure, Heroism & Treachery|Steve Sheinkin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1316638592s/8685554.jpg|13557831] for the whole messy story.

And for any adult that wrinkles their nose when I suggest a comic book as a great read, this book was DENSE! I mean, the pictures helped keep everyone straight in my head, but there was SO much information. Do not doubt this format! I learned a lot about this man and the American Revolution!
