I think this book was really good. It was a good re opener for fantasy since i've taken a little break. I loved the dynamic between Kalias and Alessandra. I thought the build up between them was written perfectly. I liked how it wasn't entirely dependent on the political aspects on the country, and instead was character driven. Perfect plot twists as well!

This was a cute little fantasy love story. Also a great introduction to this author. I’m super excited to read her book Daughter of the Pirate King now!

I have NEVER read anything like this book. The main characters are insufferable and unapologetically horrible. The plot could not move faster; worry not about conflict, it will be revolved within three pages. You may notice I marked no for the "strong character development" tag. I cannot emphasise enough how much of an understatement that is. There is absolutely NO character development. I absolutely loved it and I cannot recommend enough that you read this book, delightful fun.

I both loved this book and was left wanting more.

What I liked:
1. The MC's ambition and confidence in her abilities. The fact that she is both beautiful and smart. Because woman can be both.
2. I did enjoy the twist at the end.
3. The shadow king - he's just the right amount of handsome and mystery.

What was just ok:
1. While I liked the characters I think there could have been more depth.
2. I wish the book was longer, I think this story could have been a knock out with more...
3. It's hard to explain but I felt this story was somewhat slow and rushed at different times.

And finally the thing that had me wanting to read this story was its claim to be a slytherin romance. As a slytherin myself, I was intrigued. While I did enjoy this story, I wouldn't call it slytherin. Yes Alessandra is ambitious and passionate in her actions but I dont think it's enough to be slytherin.
