Good follow-up to book 1.  The ending was a little bit off trend from rest of series, and felt like a set up for a 3rd book

Great story of determination and love

I loved this book. The writing flowed so well, painted beautiful pictures and created love and sympathy for characters while simultaneously creating loathing and conflict towards others.
A gut wrenching tale of self sacrifice, self realization, and hope.

The worst part about this book is seeing Hera go into her petty revenge era but not getting to read about it.

But otherwise this slaps. Yes it’s taken some substantial liberties with the myths but I didn’t pick it up because i thought it would be a 100% accurate retelling of the Titanomachy.

Twas a good time and a fun read to ward off the slump.

Overview of my thoughts: This book was 100 times better than the previous one! It had a better plot and pacing, more characters that I actually liked, and a good buildup. I actually found myself a lil' bit addicted to it, which is an improvement after the last book where I wanted to quit at least 4 times each chapter.

Plot: Am I still confused a little bit by the plot? Yes. So I don't think I'm going to summarize it, but I'm going to point out the things I liked about it.

It had a way better pacing, that's for sure. The first time around the plot was dead-slow, but this time it was decently paced. It didn't feel like it was being dragged out more than it needed to be. A lot more was thought out and it had a good buildup to the final battle.

Something I really liked about this book was seeing the different power dynamics played out. As I said, more thought was put into the plot and storyline.

I feel like the ending was a bit rushed though...I would've liked to see it more drawn out to see the gods and goddesses fill into their new roles.

Characters: Just for fun, I want to rank the 6 siblings :)

#1. Poseidon; fun character and he had so many sweet moments of him being protective of Hera

#2. Demeter; Demeter has always been one of my favorite goddesses and I love the way she was portrayed

#3. Hades; if you know PJO, you know Nico, and that was basically Hades in this book

#4. Hera; I mean, she's the main character--liked her character growth

#5. Zeus; bit annoying but I liked him still

#6. Hestia; don't get me wrong, I love her, but I feel like she didn't add as much to the plot

Romance: So yeah...Zeus and Hera had the chemistry...

But Theo and Althea were just better-

Age Rating: 15-16+

Overall: Wouldn't re-read this duology but still enjoyed it while it lasted :)

The Story starts where it left off.
This may contain spoilers.
Don't read this if didn't read the first book, [b:Wings of Fury|54459294|Wings of Fury (Wings of Fury, #1)|Emily R. King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1594361136l/54459294._SX50_.jpg|76472261]

“You mean I control my own fate?”
“Yes and no. Quite often, in running from fate, we end up right where we were always meant to be.”

Three sisters come into their own as Hera, Demeter, and Hestia looking for their two abandoned brothers, Hades and Poseidon (why I forgot Zeus? :)). Hera's journey continues to find her brothers, to Premutous, and underworld. The good news is Zeus slowly grows up and is less gets on my nerve. :)
They should fight with four Gigantes against their father and his allies, General Atlas, Pallas, god of battle and warcraft, With his brother, Perses, god of destruction, and their cousins, Menoetius, god of violent anger and rash actions, and Lelantos, god of the unseen.

“Your value is not in how others treat you but in how you treat yourself. We must believe in ourselves first or there is nothing anyone can say, Titan or mortal, that we will believe.”

I really enjoyed King's books. I can honestly say this is the best retelling story of six Olympus siblings. I start to know Hades and Hestia who are less known in the other books. They are all so nice, not evil or selfish, support each other.
The story moves very well, the plots are imaginable, Very and well-drawn characters. I loved Selene and miss Rhea.
I'm looking forward to being continued into another book, love to know what will happen. Highly recommended (read book one, first).

”Achieving happiness here has taught me that peace isn’t found outside of us. Peace is internal. We carry it, we emulate it, we offer it. Those who recognize that can find contentment anywhere.”

Many thanks to 47North and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read Wings of Fury by Emily R. King in exchange for an honest review.
