In comparison to Moth to a Flame this is surprisingly not as tragic and that is saying a lot. It read as the stage setting to everything about to happen. So while it still kept my interest I was reassured for it to end so I can get on with some other storylines. I’m excited to see how this plays out!

This series will take you through all of the emotions. The good, bad and ugly. Thought provoking. You will question the way you feel about these characters and their actions. Are they right, are they wrong and are they redeemable and what makes them so or not. This is a reread for me and I'm enjoying it even more this time around. Ashley Antoinette is a beast.Â

I fell in love with Ethic. He did something so bad and yet I’m rooting for Alani to forgive him. If an author can make you fall in love with a character that committed a heinous crime, they did their job. I also feel like his crime is justified though because he has to protect his family. It was a roller coaster!! If not for the r*pe scene, I would read this over and over again. I hate books that depict graphic rape scenes. I feel like you can get the point across without going into details. That’s why it’s not a 5 Star. Nonetheless, I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! Currently reading book two!
