I loved this way more than I thought I would. Only taking away half a star since it took me 3 tries to get past the first 15 chapters.

Whew!!! My mind is already spinning!! There is SO much information here in this first volume, and from what I'm hearing, it only gets more and more intense. I have started the journey many have taken, and I will remain steadfast to see the end of this incredible saga! It has been a long time since these books have come out, and I've collected them all while they were being published, but I have never taken the plunge. Why, I do not know. Methinks it is due to the sheer size of each volume that really made me veer away and grab something else to read. I have said "NO MORE!", and I am now committed to this adventure. I do have to say though, maybe it is a good thing I waited so long, as there are some really great tools online now to explain the concept that is The Wheel of Time, and I've already bookmarked some and used them extensively. I'll let you all know how I make out in 15 years when I finish

Re-read after I got annoyed by the first few episodes of the Amazon TV series changing the story so much. Glad I did as I'd forgotten a fair bit of the happenings of this book over the 9 years since I first read it.

I watched the show first. I read this book too help clarify what was confusing. But things changed so much between the show and book so I'm left with more questions.

Read this book if you like LOTR or Eragon. For me it's a little too dense. I don't regret reading it, but I won't be continuing the series, even if I "skip too book 8" as most people recommend. I'll just read the wiki summary.
