This book wasn't quite what I expected it to be. I found it interesting how Walden continued to do something she hated so much for so long, but with the events of her life, it makes sense. I hope that Walden has gotten some healing since publishing this book.

The book lacks momentum and is overly long, with repetitive skating routines and minimal character development. Despite interesting subject matter, the pacing is inconsistent, and Tillie's brief relationship receives little attention. The focus on trivial matters contrasts with the superficial treatment of important themes such as sexual assault and homophobia. The overall tone is detached and apathetic.

Feels very real, which I guess makes sense, as its a memoir. I think the authors note saying how this was designed to reflect how she was feeling growing up is a good description. The book felt like emotions in the pages.
