Imagine writing down the rules for how the most powerful country on earth operates. Sounds hard. Now do so three hundred years ago in powdered wigs and lace. Yeah, hard.

Reading the thoughtful fault tolerant thinking of our founding fathers is fun.

Hmm… not too sure about this one. Some of this language is surely going to create some confusion. And there are no explanatory notes! Feels like it could have been edited a bit more tightly. Is it really a good idea to hold a sham election in November, and then a real election later on with delegates who are supposed to be elected by the people but don't have to be, and supposed to vote in line with the people but don't have to?

Also, this: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. There are too many commas in this sentence — it doesn't mean anything.

Quite amazing how such a short document manages to define a robust framework of government and how well it stood the test of time.

Sure, it was not an entirely original invention. It was also not perfect: it had to be corrected 27 times to date, including some pretty major fixes such as abolishing slavery and letting women vote.

But all in all, the document was written with amazing brevity and clarity and it struck excellent balance in defining the fundamental principles and leaving plenty of wiggle room so future generations could fill in the blanks.
