A lotta parts were fresh in my memory from Mom & me & mom. Still a great listen.

"I gave birth to one child, a son, but I have thousands of daughters. You are Black and White, Jewish and Muslim, Asian, Spanish-speaking, Native American and Aleut. You are fat and thin and pretty and plain, gay and straight, educated and unlettered, and I am speaking to you all. Here is my offering to you."
My first-ever book to read from Maya Angelou.
The moment I opened this book, I am never the same.
It is an honor and privilege to be your daughter.

Giving it a little bit more than half because there were some gems but I didn’t find this book to have much of an impact on me.

Beautiful, warm, and inspiring collection of work by Maya Angelou. While she never had a daughter, these essays and poetry are dedicated to the daughters all around her. Reading this book felt like a hug from one of the most wise minds. She is able to cut right to the root of life issues and life virtues in such an incredible way.

I love Maya Angelou and I think this is a wonderful standalone for Maya, for the daughters she never had. Not my favorite of hers, as there are many repeat stories from her other autobiographies, but like I said, a great standalone.

Unfortunately not as good as I'd been told it would be. I'll still look into her bigger works
