Surprisingly, I didn't really care for this. I liked the beginning the most, as the rest of it felt a bit too patriotic and too Christian for my taste.

Not everything Maya Angelou has to offer as advice would be incredibly popular in today's world, and I think that's fascinating. This "letter," a combination memoir, advice column, and social commentary is very interesting and beautiful.

Maya Angelou is one of my favourite writers and this book kept the good name. I love her writing and there is always so much to learn from her.
However, having read hers "Mum, mum and me" this summer, the seemed like a bit of repetition - many stories have already been written so I had to skip those parts. Well, not skip but it was repetitive so it slowed down the reading pace.
Nonetheless, the book is a real pleasure, full of short "stories" and little details from her travels and experiences that linger in your mind long after the book has been put down.
