People say you can skip this book, and they're right.

It feels that this book was really hammering home why they say 'males' and 'females'. Imo that is one of the most awkward choices Maas has made, so from her perspective I can understand why she included mention of the justification here.

Why Maas would choose to introduce ANOTHER character named the weaver is beyond me. Caused confusion more than once.

There was a paragraph in the sex scene that was unique and hot, so that's something.

I really enjoyed this one. It warmed my heart after the turmoil of the previous book.

As this is intended to be a winter holiday special, it is a nice breather from the emotional rollercoaster of the first three books. It builds anticipation for Silver Flames. I was happily surprised with the emotional depth of each character - I worried it’d shy away from the intensity of the previous books but it hits the mark without moving the plot too far forward. It’s truly a gem for lovers of Velaris and the characters residing there.

Out of the series I've liked this one the least. Still a good read but I just didn't love the plot and couldn't find myself to care about most of the characters. The only character I really enjoyed reading about was Elaine, I'm usually more invested in the other characters.

This audiobook is six and a half hours long and I swear at least an hour of it is Feyre angsting over spending money while poor faerie war orphans starve in poor faerie Africa or whatever. Very "do they know it's Christmas".

Tbh, I consider banter to be one of SJM's strongest suits, so this is a pretty strong entry into the canon.
