This is best book of the series. Unlike the first 3 books, the story takes place in roughly a week. Feyre, Rhysand, and their friends and family gather to celebrate the Winter Solstice and heal from their war with Hybern. The plot itself is light and fluffy, with most of the characters trying to figure out what gifts to buy or who will or will not be coming to holiday dinner. But the scars of their war are incredibly visible and impossible to escape. Short and sweet and free of Mass's typical habit of wandering for hundreds of pages with little to no momentum, this was a brief if not spectacular addition to the series.

how do you write a holiday special and somehow miss all the things that make holidays special??
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but intentionally marginalizing your characters just so that your non-marginalized main characters can get brownie points for liberating their inferiors is disgusting and completely uninteresting as a plot point. Genuinely so tired of the whole plot line of Rhys and cassian trying to integrate women into the fighting force. It MIGHT work if they had any kind of interaction with the women AND if there was literally any reason for misogyny to exist in the fae but they don’t and there’s not.

This audiobook is six and a half hours long and I swear at least an hour of it is Feyre angsting over spending money while poor faerie war orphans starve in poor faerie Africa or whatever. Very "do they know it's Christmas".

Tbh, I consider banter to be one of SJM's strongest suits, so this is a pretty strong entry into the canon.

This book was not my favorite. I think I could have done without reading this book. Only a small portion of this book was needed for the transition into the next book in the series. The rest of it felt like filler material.

This story was so cute! Honestly, I couldn't stop grinning as I read each chapter. I love that it was written from various character's POV. I feel like it gave me the chance to get to know each character better and see how they fit in to their little found family. I just finished this book but I already want to reread it!
