Perfectly enjoyable.  I enjoyed the first book about Mitch and Alex and then DNF'ed the 2nd book about Ashton and Dan so I was hesitant about this one but I really really enjoyed it. After just reading The  Breakaway Series by E.L. Massey, this book is kind of reminiscent of that with the way that it's written and the portrayal of the characters. Roman in this book is very similar to Roman in All Hail The Underdogs by E.L. Massey in that they're both emotionally closed off and they purposely keep a prickly personality to keep people away because they're afraid of rejection because of their sexualities.

I love Cody and Mitchell's friendship and I'm glad that we got to see more of it here.  I'm always a sucker for the found family trope relating to hockey teams so the fact that Roman became close with his hockey team was nice.  I am however annoyed that Cody's dad never
explicitly apologized for making Cody feel unwanted literally his whole life or explicitly stating that he does want Cody and is proud of him

I was emotionally compromised while reading this, but I cried a number of times, which doesn’t usually happen with new adult sports romances. The demisexual rep was kind of refreshing — not an awakening, someone who was very firm in his demisexuality, but hadn’t had a lot of practical romantic experience, so wasn’t sure how much he’d be into physical stuff until he was in the situation. The back stories were both kind of typical, yet so detailed and carefully portrayed that it elevated what could have been a very rote story/set up tropes.

3.5 stars rounded up. Enjoyed reading Cody and Roman’s story but this one didn’t absorb me the way the two previous books did and certain parts felt underdeveloped.

I liked this, but it was almost too light and angst-free for me (at least at the time I was reading it, which was before the pandemic, so maybe I'd feel differently reading it now). Both characters had things they were dealing with, but in general they almost seemed too well-adjusted. I think it was just a bit too low-stakes for me — all the characters were a bit too understanding and reasonable, which I know is a weird thing to complain about. Like, I definitely came out of the romance thinking they'd be able to make it work long-term because they were good at communicating, but I guess I just didn't find it incredibly interesting to read about. Also, as a side note, the repeated references to Cody being a psych major drove me a bit crazy because I have a BA in psychology, so I can say for a fact that being a psych major does not give you the ability to read people's body language or psychoanalyze them, as implied in this book. But that's something that probably wouldn't bother most people.
