This is the second book in that series. It has adventure and kept me engaged. However, some of the parts were a little too unbelievable for me. If I were a kid reading this, I would have not questioned it as much though. The ending left me wanting to quickly pick up the next book in order to continue the adventure.

Not quite as fast of a clip as the first book in the way the mystery unfolds although I daresay there's more action.

I love that I was right about one of them going bad, though I would never have guess Hector! Totally thought he was coming back though, so I called that one. I also loved the way in which we get to learn about each of the criminals they are cloned after and see how all of them but Eli (we'd better learn more about his guy) have such strong personalities that match them.
Their whole sneaking around, breaking laws, and questioning their morals along the way was so enjoyable to me! And I loved the twist ending because I totally did not see it coming! I knew something had to go wrong before it ended, but I wasn't guessing it would be the betrayal that it was.

I'm still very bothered by how much Amber's goal weight is talked about. I have found absolutely no reason to glorify 13 year old years going on diets. The way she talks about her goal weight and the size of her clothes and obsessing over her food is absolutely disgusting for a child. If this book is aimed toward middle schoolers, in absolutely no way should be suggesting that this is a worry any child should be having. Being aware of your health is extremely different than being aware of your weight, and this book was not showing what a healthy mindset looks like.

I love this series! It skirts the fine line of being completely unrealistic while offering a totally over the top adventure thrill ride. The 4 escapees from Serenity (Eli, Amber, Tori and Malik) work as a great team.

Fun! Grades 4 and up.

I love finding those books that you just know kids are going to love. Those books that make your job easier, because they are going to be checked out, purchased and read.
Masterminds 2 picks up right where we left off and even though it's been 9 months since I've read the last one, I quickly felt like no time had passed and I was smack dab back in the adventure.
Great sequel, I'm ready for book 3!
