I only cared about the parts that were from the womens perspective, otherwise this would've been a 2⭐

very quick read that zooms into the mind and mindset of early airmen. captures a lot of the melancholy and adventure of flight

I read this book because I'm a big fan of the author, and I cannot say I was disappointed! The ability of Saint-Exupéry to convey so much in so little (in this case, the span of a single night) never ceases to amaze me.

The characterization and imagery in this book are absolutely incredible; each character's role is so small, yet encapsulates so much of the human experience! The whole book feels like an ode to the individuals that we so often take for granted and an homage to the brave souls who dare to venture into the vast unknown of the night sky for the sake of their missions.

I cannot believe how much this book made me feel for aviation, something I have never had an interest in before.

Karena versinya bentuk novel grafis, jadi karakter lainnya (Robinho si manajer pendiam, Rurue si montir yang belum pernah kenal cinta) terpaksa ditekan demi cerita intinya. Sayang sih sebenarnya, tapi yah...

(Btw, mas penerjemah, mbak/mas editor, om/tante penerbit, Buenos Aires bukan di Brazil..)

More a novella than a novel it charts a short period of time in the South Americas and the relationship between an Inspector, a controller and the pilots who fly the mail across the continent and across the world. As in Southern Mail, the language is lyrical and poetic and captures the lives of these people so well without being overly sentimental. Its philosophical and easy to apply the thoughts, ideas and scenarios to one's own life as a metaphorical subtext.
