I enjoyed Tempest somewhat. The characters were interesting but never felt fully fleshed out. The narrator did an acceptable job. I really liked her voice but there were some pauses that threw me. They sounded like the end of a sentence but they weren't. I cannot vouch for how accurate they are in historical terms. I am curious about the other 2 books in the series so at some point I may try them.

THIS ONE!!!! fave of the trilogy!! this started off with such a bang, hehehe iykyk, and it just kept being a banger. also this is by far the HORNIEST book i've read by beverly so far and i was so here for it. i loved that mail order bride aspect and colton's whole "this isn't a love match" stick but then falls over his feet on his face in love with my girl regan. AND speaking of regan, i absolutely love her so much. talk about a badass!! "yes, doctor" -- GIRL, i just know they would have slayed at roleplay lmao.

So, this might be a weird comparison, but if you loved the Little House books when you were a kid, then I think you might enjoy Tempest. It’s set in a small town in 1885 Wyoming. The center of the story is the romance, of course, but another big part of the book is the lead character moving to a small town, getting to know the people, and setting up her home. It hits the spot for details about old west life, including how the stove works and small town politics. The spicy scenes are really fun, but if they’re not you’re thing you could easily skip them and enjoy the rest of the book!

Regan Carmichael is excited to set of on the adventure of being a mail-order bride, but as she travels to meet her intended, Dr. Colton Lee, in the wilderness of Wyoming Territory, her stagecoach is attacked by bandits, and then she accidentally shoots Dr. Lee. After getting off to such a bad start, will the cool and orderly doctor learn to love Regan's warm adventurous spirit?

What a nice end to this series. The romance was a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and although I don't come to Jenkins looking for a history lesson, she always delivers an intriguing one.

I knew I was going to enjoy this from the time that Regan accidentally shoots her future husband in the shoulder, thinking that he's an outlaw. The story was a lot of fun, and while there were darker moments - in regards to the loss of Colton's wife, especially, but also a hefty dose of racism - the dynamic between the two leads had me hooked.

Did Colton need to be slapped upside the head for his "women can enjoy sex?!?!?!?!" attitude at times? Absolutely. Did Minnie need to be slapped just in general? Definitely. Did I have fun listening to this? Yes. Yes, I did.

I did wish there was a LITTLE bit more on the mail order bride side of things, purely because the whole idea is so fascinating. But that's a pretty minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.

seemed more of a woman's fiction than romance, too many stuff going on externally than the couple
