A royal daughter, but not too close to the throne, this novel follows Elise as she navigates a betrothal bidding in a family only out for money and power and being targeted by rebels.

I came into this series having already read The Ever Seas so I had tiny bits of context but I wasn't sure what to expect from the story. Overall, the build up to the last 10% of the book was great, but the end wasn't what I anticipated. This was a single POV which can be nice but sometimes it makes me feel like I'm missing part of the story. I read the available bonus chapters from Legion's POV which provided some nice insight.

Overall, I'm curious to learn more about what's happening in this world and continuing the story.

In general the book kept me turning pages, the story was engaging and it was nice to see that our FMC wasn't afraid to try to stand up for what's right, even in a family who don't value the lives of everyone around them.

I really loved Shadows and Thorns! There were some predictable elements to the plot, but it was more than made up for with twists along the way. Excited to read the rest of the series!

I was intrigued by this world so I’ll probably read the other books in the series but I will say.. the reveals weren’t that shocking. When the reveals happened… i had an inkling or wasn’t that shocked to learn the truth. Regardless, a fine read. Some parts of passages I skipped because it was alot but I’ll definitely continue the series.

If you are looking for your next great Romantasy series read? If so, I think I have found just the one for you. This Epic Romantasy follows the story of Elise Lysander, 2nd daughter of a royal family & niece to the king, as she navigates the perilous politics of avoiding betrothal.
Legion Grey, is brought in to help with the marriage negotiations, and what initial starts out as a friendship quickly turns to more. She should definitely not give into her desires for the negotiator…..right?
Meanwhile, political unrest is rising in the kingdom as agitators, magic wielders, and more work to take down the kingdom that Elise wants to unite under peace.
This epic tale of love & lore will have you hooked from page 1.
