No okay fuck it I had fun with this. It was a nice change of pace to read something lighthearted like this.
It's a fun, simple romcom that's cute, well-written (enough), surprisingly mature and witty without having to try too hard. I went into this thinking that it would be amusing in a laugh at way given the premise of it being a Reylo fanfiction that got publicised (which, come on that's ridiculous) but I ended up burning through this way quicker than I anticipated.
I already like romcom movies (I mean Punch Drunk Love and Night is Short, Walk on Girl are two of my all time favorites) so in hindsight of course I'd still have fun when making the jump from the camera to the pen. Maybe I didn't actually think I'd dislike it and was actually eager to read this, but had to hide it under the veil of irony. Who knows.
And the whole Reylo aspect didn't even take away from the whole experience, in fact I actually found the constant reminders of "By the way, this dude is based off Kylo Ren, down to his name" fucking hilarious. That's gold right there.
It's not without flaws but all-in-all it's quite good for what it is.

I just knew I had to read a book by Ali Hazelwood!! This one have been on my tbr for so long and it took my brother gifting it to me on Christmas to finally dive into this story.
I am not disappointed! I've heard some people find it overrated but I think that must be mostly because of the hype it had on booktok.
I found it to be a really lovely and really funny rom-com and I'm definitely buying more books from this author!

In short i didn't like it but i did like the STEM setting and references it was great. The rest of it however was just not for me. It was extremely cliche and chessy and was very self aware of the fact. The ongoing sexual assault "joke" was not the vibe a little weird. I also hate misunderstandings, lies and when characters just assume things which made me hate it 50x more. It also could've been 50 pages shorter let's be real. Clearly i hated a lot in this book but if you're after a fake dating trope with some sciene and love cheesy cliche then go for it
