I forgot how much I enjoyed this series, I love every character and all the relationships are immaculate. I also found the theme of this book very smart incorporated into the story. The story was really great and this was such a great YA fantasy.

I really enjoyed the story overall. What I thought would be a minor complaint ended up throwing me out of the story so often, it brought it down from 4 starts to 3, for me: the rotating cast of character perspectives across the chapters was confusing. Aside from Arjun, the narration style of the other characters narrating was so similar, I had to keep flipping back to the chapter title to make sure I knew who was narrating. This wasn't an issue in the first book because each half of the group was on opposite ends of the world. So, location and context clues were easy to follow. Now, with everyone together, it got really confusing trying to remember which character was narrating that chapter.

Also, it seemed like parts of the plot of character development were a tad rushed and could have been flushed out a bit more. I wonder if it's a case of trying to put too much plot from too many perspectives into one book?

Good ending, a bit predictable, but solid read nonetheless! 4.5 stars again.

I sadly didn't love this as much as I did the first book (which I adored), but I still loved it! For me there was just too much mushiness and the ending seemed too easy and even a bit rushed.

The characters are as great as they were before, though, and seeing them together was the best part of this book! For that alone it's 100% worth it!

This book is worth it regardless, please don't get me wrong. Go read it! And if you haven't read Never Tilting World yet, go read that!

My rating: 4.5/5 stars. This book was so good and such a great way to end this duology. I love the action and the pacing of this book. The characters all amazing and so complex. This may be one of my new favorite fantasy duologies ever.

I felt like.... there was so much going on... while there was nothing going on at the same time?

Feels like a lot of what was supposed to be monumental discoveries was bogged down by, so much... doing nothing and just random talk that it just fell short. Still enjoyed it tho!

The Ever Cruel Kingdom delivered a very satisfying conclusion to this duology. I however still liked book one just a tad better. That is not to say this book was bad but it did drag for me in some areas while still entertaining me.

I don't have much more to add to this review that I didn't already say in my review for book one. Everything that I loved and adored in book one was very present throughout this book, whether that be the world or the characters or even the plot. What I will say here is my one critique, and that is the story kind of dragged like I said. This story though still had me completely in its hooks.

I am such a Rin Chupeco fan at this point. Seriously all the books I have read by them have left a very lasting mark on my reader heart. I am so eager to pick up any and every book they plan on releasing.

Everything I said for book 1 holds true for its sequel: this was an incredibly written conclusion to a fantastic duology that had amazing character representation and a really cool storyline!! Highly recommend!
