Villain vs. Villain. Schwab delivered and left no crumb in her wake.

It was lacking a bit, I'm afraid. I don't even really know what. Maybe it was too short. Either way I wasn't all that emotionally invested in this story, in these characters.
Still quite enjoyable.
But I was missing the ace representation! Maybe it will be there in the sequel.

This was so close to being a book I really enjoyed. The plot hinges on the dynamic between Eli and Victor, but I don't think we got to see enough of it. If the book spent more time in their college days, and spent more time on the aftermath of their experiments, I think it'd have solved some of the issues I had with the pacing, too.

A refreshing entry into the superhero/villain genre! I loved so much about [b:Vicious|40874032|Vicious (Villains, #1)|V.E. Schwab|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1670752670l/40874032._SY75_.jpg|19250870]: the relationships with all their glorious complications and real shades of human life - Victor Vale & Eli Ever, Victor Vale & Mitchell Turner, and others that I don't want to spoil. As always, I'm excited when romantic relationships take a backseat to friendship, and that's what we have in this story. I like the powers that are revealed and the fact that science and research are woven into the story. I couldn't put this story down and I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd and final entry in the duology.
