It had an interesting setting and the characters were intriguing, but I didn’t find it especially thrilling and the story fell flat because of my lack of investment in the dour tone of the book.

I really wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy or connect with this book when I first read the synopsis, but I gave it a chance and loved it so much that I have now started watching the TV show adaptation - which is spot on to the novel so far. While I assumed that one particular character was behind the plot all along, it was still a shocking reveal and connected everything about Camille's condition, Adora's emotional instability, and Amma's rebellious nature. I think that this is a very unique premise and Gillian Flynn created a realistic atmosphere and storyline that gets you hooked right away and keeps ahold of you until the end. There was never a point when I considered putting this book down. Amazing, and I am looking forward to finishing the show.
