I read romance for stories like Daring the Pilot! Jeannie Moon has, once again, delivered an intimate romance that captivated me from beginning to end. Jeannie Moon's ability to write characters that I wish I knew in my everyday life is just one of the reasons she is one of my favorite authors. In this case, I loved that Keely and Jonah, while both having excelled in their careers, still felt a need to connect with their family & their hometown. While their relationship was complicated by family matters (hello, favorite trope!), their ability to be respectful, while going after what it was they wanted, really had me cheering for them. The additional characters in the story were just as interesting, and I loved Keely's friend Lucy! I really hope I get to read her story some day.
Jeannie has a real talent for not just writing "steamy" romance, but for delivering the intimacy that is often lacking in other books. I adored the quiet moments that this couple shared, and their easy banter. That intimacy was the key reason I didn't put the book down until I finished! If this book had zero "steamy" scenes, I still would have rated it as highly. Their connection, shown over and over again, was THAT GOOD!
I haven't read the other titles in this series, but after reading Keely and Jonah's story, I immediately purchased the other available titles and I'm hoping they'll be just as entertaining.
*ARC Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Really enjoyed this book and will look forward to reading more of Jeannie Moon's work. The characters were well developed and interesting and immediately caught my attention. The story arc was well paced and well plotted. The crisis moment was a bit contrived and pretty easy to see coming and Keely's over the top reaction precipitating the crisis was totally out of character from the way the character had been developed. Jonah was a bit slow on the uptake in his reaction but certainly more understandable than her actions.

The other part of the story that didn't work was the under development of Keely's family dynamic. When they finally give some background it sheds a little light on it but it's all only from Keely's perspective and assumptions...it would have been nice to have some sort of cathartic moment with her brother and parents to figure out why the dynamic existed in the first place. I'd certainly have been way more upset about my treatment if I were Keely than she was.

Those are the only two pieces that take away from the story. I'll definitely read more of Moon's work.

Keely Andersen hasn’t visited her hometown more than a handful of times in the last ten years, but when her doctoral research sends her back to Marietta for the immediate future, she can’t wait to reconnect with the community and the mountains she missed so much. Of course, nothing goes as planned, and Keely’s truck breaks down a few miles outside of town. When help arrives, she finds herself face to face with her brother’s best friend – the guy she used to call big, bad and gorgeous – Jonah Clark.

Still settling back into Marietta after a harrowing stint as an army helicopter pilot, Jonah Clark plans to spend a few days hiking the local mountains to prepare for his job as a pilot for Crawford County’s Search and Rescue team. When he stops to help a stranded driver, Jonah is shocked to find his best friend’s younger sister is the one behind the wheel. Only now, instead of the geeky teen he remembered, Keely is all grown up with curves he can’t resist.

Though the sparks of attraction ignite immediately, they’re hesitant to act because of their shared past. But when a project dear to their hearts is threatened, and a boy is lost on Copper Mountain, Keely and Jonah drop everything to fight for what matters, including each other.

This is part of a series, however, you don't have to read them all to understand this one. If I were you, I would just for the pleasure though!! It's amazing to me all the information fit into this book but I like those types of books. I love a good book with a plot and Jeannie does that really well. I also love a book about 2 people who have known each other forever. Friends to lover books are my favorite! He was her brother's age and she was a couple years younger and did I tell you I LOVE those books???! Cause I do! He saved her and that was it for her...Jonah, bless his heart he's just unaware that there's anything there. He just knows he saved her life. Jonah keeps saving her over and over and they keep getting thrown together and one thing leads to another....again my favorite!!! Read this because you won't be able to put it down and you'll want to pick up the rest in the series.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.
