I've started this twice before and never managed to get through it, but this time I listened to an audiobook and made it to the end. I can see the what people like about it, the general structure of an odyssey through the southern United States appeals to me (which is why I've given it so many chances), and I tended to find myself engaged every time a new narrative thread was picked up, but each section massively outstayed it's welcome and most of the book felt like a chore to get through for this reason.

I got bored and reading it the way it’s talked was tiring and sometimes hard to understand for me. It’s not exciting, not fun. I read the last chapter after I decided quitting it and even the ending is boring, doesn’t go anywhere.
