The stories do get more diverse as the series continues, but the weight of the events that occur in these books is becoming more and more glossed over, since only the reader has the context to understand the dangers in each book; the characters are blissfully ignorant to the higher picture. That takes a lot away from these books for me, and I know it would have when I was a kid too.

It was everything a Fnaf fan would be expect it to be. It is horrific and weird at the same time. This whole series makes you think about the lore of the franchise as a whole.

I know I’m not the targeted reader for these books but I’ve generally enjoyed almost all the previous ones in the series but this one was the worst yet.

The first was a little spooky but again, it’s not fun watching a dad kind of hate his family till it’s almost too late but the twist was okay.

The second story was the absolute worst. Dude, what an absolute ass I’m glad springtrap pretty much killed him from the inside out.

The third one was probably my favorite of the three, it was interesting and eerie. I did end up skipping through the last few pages though just because I wanted the book to be over.

Ok, apparently I am just plowing through the rest of the series with elaborate reviews to boot. Do I possess the appropriate amount of time to do this, not really but I will do it anyway. I think I might try to do this in a way that is part thoughts while reading and review after each story and at the end of the book. Experimentation is the spice of life.

Story 1: Bunny Call

Thoughts:

Oh dear, another adult. Their stories are never quite as good as the ones with kids
Ok, I do not like the wife, too bossy
This bunny call will go over poorly
That trap door is also no good
Yep I was right, the trap door is no good
And there it is gentle people another murderous giant rabbit surrounded in mystery

Connectivity to the wider universe:

Not much. This really felt out there in terms of FNAF. The rabbit made sense but the setting doesn’t.

Review:
This was an ok story. Nothing really stands out considering our other stores. It devolves into a game of keep out with a single rabbit animatronic. Writing that out it felt more like one of the games than the story associated with them. The ending is really vague and points to animatronic interference but that doesn’t make the most sense in the world so I don’t know what to make of it.

Story 2: In the Flesh

Thoughts:

Hey Matt & video games, I see what you did there
“ Springtraps Revenge - A cutting edge virtual reality game that was to be the next installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series”
I presume this takes place after Help Wanted and I will not dignify the internet with my misrecognition of theories regarding these games within the games universe.
Things did not turn out well for the last game developers we saw in this series
A maze, wonderful. That turned out so well last time
Jason, really, Jason. I blame him for this mess
Oh, I guess we are just doing Help Wanted again but bloodier.

Connectivity to the wider universe:

See points 2 and 3 above
Help Wanted - that’s it

Review:
That was weird. I am uncomfortable with what has just happened. I don’t want to think about this one ever again.

Story 3: The Man in Room 1280

Thoughts:

A priest, interesting
Ah the building holds malcontent
An irrelevant amount of time on life support - suspicious
Lived while off life support
Burnt meat, smoldering plastic, and molten steel
Locked in horrific nightmares
Hello, Afton trapped in Ultimate Custome night.
Burned to a crisp, almost a charred skeleton, can see his organs,
No face- a hole for a nose, pits lacking eyes, gaping mouth devoid of teeth and lips
THIS THING SHOULD NOT BE ALIVE
2 entities vying for control of a single brain
Fazbear Entertainment Distribution Center
An alligator mask - a ghost boy wearing an alligator mask
Child giggling
And something has escaped

Custom night?

Review:
Interesting, so interesting. This is one of the best stories we have had. It feels very FNAF without relying on the animatronics. It’s the other part of the series the spirits and undercurrent of evil and the supernatural. I have also now gotten a hold of every physical copy and read the extra stories at the end so everything is starting to come together much better.
