While this wasn’t incredible literature, it was raw. I felt the feelings being described, cried, and found it relatable in so many ways. This was not a gossipy tell all celebrity book. This is a statement where someone wants to tell their story on their terms and I think hopes to move on. If she wants to stay at home and dance on Instagram because it makes her small, then I’m all for it. She’s clearly a talented entertainer and dancer - I also enjoyed the brief spots where she talked about how alive and powerful she feels dancing.

We learn a lot about Britney in this book, and I think that’s what she wanted with its publication; that, after decades of being portrayed by others since she was a kid, she is finally free and able to say: this is ME.

And some might be surprised by the Britney Spears whose voice is quite obviously present in this book (cheers to the ghostwriters for backing off so much!) I am just a few months younger than Britney, and I vividly remember first seeing the Rolling Stone cover that came out with the release of …Baby One More Time. And I was skeptical, not of her talent but of the male gaze I thought she was pandering to. Britney Spears was everywhere in the late 90s and early 2000s, and her omnipresence and her clear and bold image always made me feel like she had full control over her life and career. But, again, my impression was directly influenced by the media portrayal and her stage persona.

The Britney Spears who wrote this book is a sweetheart. She has been through hell and back quite a few times, and has never really been able to communicate with the public without the shield of her Pop Princess persona or without the misrepresentation by the media until now. And the result is something my 16 year old self would probably not have guessed: I cried. The last few pages of this book broke my heart because tragedy kept coming even after the conservatorship was ended. I was tempted to give this book five stars, and maybe I will eventually, but as much as I appreciated how stripped down this memoir was, I wish there had been a little more from Britney because I felt some restraint.

I was surprised at how short this book was so when you go in, just expect the facts. It read like bullet points: this happened, then this happened. There are some emotional quotes written like pure poetry but mostly it’s just the facts and how she felt.

Overall, it was a great book. I’m so glad she’s free and is able to be happy and live her life.

This book is for fans of Britney Spears, people who know nothing about Britney Spears, and it's for those who question "Why did the #FreeBritney Movement even matter?".

To say this book is a 5 star feels ridiculous (because of the content, you just feel like rating it is cruel), but Britney deserves the ratings to reflect her story and what she's overcome.

For everyone who was around to witness Britney's early legacy, this one is for you. For those, like me, who are in their early adult years now, this one is just a total insight into that era. Her words are so wise, so easy to understand (in the best way possible), and this book is just perfect.

This will bring you through the highs and lows of Britney Spears, this book will educate you, will take your expectations and assumptions and just throw them out, and this book will devastate you for what this woman had to go through. She committed no crime and yet she was treated worse than criminals are now. Bless Britney for her perseverance! I highly recommend this book to the pop culture enjoyers and Britney fans - and I even recommend it to people who aren't fans of Britney.

My words can't even express how good this read was!!! I will be reading whatever she publishes next.

It’s Britney, b!!! This book is incredibly sad…I read this out of pure curiosity, but I had to take breaks a few times because of how hard it was to listen to what she went through, but it definitely didn’t prevent me from turning the page. It truly goes to show how much we had no idea how much Britney suffered and kept from the world, and it also proves that we need to give more grace to people because we don’t know what they are personally walking through. It takes a lot of courage to let people in to your messy life story, but I really hope she gets the help she needs to overcome all the trauma in her lifetime. It also made me personally grateful for the freedom that I have too.

Ps - Michelle Williams did a phenomenal job as audiobook narrator. And kudos to the ghostwriters who made the story coherent & poignant enough for us readers, I wasn’t expecting it to be as enthralling as it was. Read if you like pop music/culture, tragic documentaries / memoirs, or Britney.
