Wow, some people are actual garbage and I can't believe the actual brainwashing power the media and paparazzi had to make us all feel negative thoughts about Brittany during the 00s. Absolutely disgusting and I hope only good things for Brittany in the future (and a lot of bad karma for her family and the media people, and her awful exs)

Fue interesante leer como Britney fue tratado de manera hororosa en el público e incluso de algunos miembros de su familia y como sobrevivió esta tratamiento.

This five star rating is a huge surprise to me. I didn’t know anything much about her aside from the tabloid headlines (never listened to her music). Really glad I read this book. She’s overcome a lot. I probably would’ve crumbled. Made me proud of her and also inspired me to be clearer about my priorities and boundaries. I hope the world will leave her alone and let her be, and I hope her parents, sister, and Kevin all experience very painful and elongated suffering.

Unexpectedly, a very powerful read.
I very rarely read celebrity memoirs but I've always had a certain affection for Britney Spears. This was really hard to read at times but also felt empowering because I deeply resonated with some of her unfortunate experiences. For the first time, maybe ever, I truly felt like I was not the only woman in pain and terribly traumatized who had to learn how to survive and build herself a place in this world.

I didn’t rate this book because like, did I think the writing was a little choppy and disjointed? Sure, but it’s  not like it’s a valid criticism of a novel or anything, it’s literally her writing about her own life??

Anyway, Britney’s dad deserves to be in JAIL and I’m glad that she’s finally able to make her own choices, live her life properly and spend time with her kids, which is pretty much all she’s wanted to do since 2008

Reading the experiences that Britney Spears went through left me with so much anger, sadness, and frustration for her. It is disgusting how the institutions we have in place, that are supposed to help and keep us safe, are constantly and consistently failing us. There are many heartless people in this world who should die, but death is a kind mercy they do not deserve.

There are many complaints on the writing in this memoir, which is just focusing on the wrong thing imo, but the narrative tone of voice just sounded very young to me. I found this to be very fitting given the trauma she experienced, specifically in the sense of how trauma effects you neurologically, and it helps you understand just how young she was going through all this.

a very important read. it’s harrowing what britney spears has been through at the hands of her family, the paparazzi, and us. i think britney’s story is incredibly important.

some small criticisms:
- you can talk about losing bodily autonomy without being fatphobic
- you can talk about being institutionalized without disrespecting addicts
- hawaii is not your playground, i don’t care what you’ve been through
- the lack of intersectionality felt
painful to me at times; absolutely yes, women have suffered at the hands of men, but we cannot
pretend Black men have been treated the same as white men in this country, nor that britney does
have some power as a white woman
