This was a very interesting read. The main character wants to be free from the constraints put on her own body, and she goes to drastic means to do so. At the same time, the men in her life try to control her and mould her into what she should be. I loved the sisters’ perspective because she viewed the main character with humanity. This book has a very bleak outlook on life. It was healing for me to read when I was having a hard day.

i hate men and this was very, very sad

overall unsatisfying end with a lot of men abusing their power and the psychological effects it has in the women in their lives were mostly highlighted in the last part of the book.

if you were told this was a horror novel you were lied to. it’s not NOT horror but i wouldn’t describe it as such.

Extraordinary, haunting, and unique. I loved the Kafka influence of trauma transforming a person's body and soul. This was an emotionally challenging read with themes of female submission, sexual assault, fetishism, depression, and the trauma of childhood abuse. It left me feeling chilled and desolate, but I loved it.

A fictional commentary about the taboo of mental healthcare, male parental “love,” marital rape and the marginalization of women in South Korea. Sad, jolting, haunting, and triggering. For me, as a Korean woman living outside that system, it’s also an enraging mind f***.
