I don’t know. That’s my review. I just don’t know. I really enjoyed most of this book. I think the issue was my expectation - I thought it was going to be a YA romance and that’s what I went in expecting. It wasn’t. Ultimately - I really like the story that was told but I had made up an ending that I liked better. That isn’t the book’s fault though. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.

I had been seeing this book on the shelf for a while, so when Barnes and Noble had their sale I had to go get this one.
When I started this I was sucked immediately into the world that was created. The MC, Evie, was so relatable and just overall so similar to someone you'd actually have a conversation with that I would finish reading a chapter, go to sleep, wake up and think that Evie was an actual person.
Besides from Evie, I love the diversity of the characters, it stays true to LA and how you wouldn't see just one type of person there. Most of the characters were I absolutely loved for different reasons, some of Evie's friends I didn't like (not talking about Martin, he's a sweetheart) but they were a small price to pay to be able to enjoy this book.
Some issues I had with this book was that it was slightly repetitive at times. When things are first mentioned I'm live yaaasss Evie I'm right there with you, then it's mentioned again and I'm like...okay I get it. Another thing was that other relationships weren't explored more, yes this is written in first person and honestly it doesn't NEED to explore others, but I got attached and I wanted to know more about these characters.
I laughed, I cried, I yearned, I sighed. This book truly has me thinking about my own life and whether or not I'm being led by fear or love.
I honestly might take on a dance class.

What a gorgeous book. A little bit of magic and love and some action. Characters felt real and the whole tone of it was sparkling and dry and a little sweet, like a good champagne. Loved this. Nicola Yoon can write a fun and elegant and well balanced book.
