"Heartless Beloved" by Lola King is a gripping tale that initially took me a moment to fully connect with, but once the plot took off, it was a captivating ride from start to finish.
In a world defined by survival instincts, I hail from a realm where it's either eat or be eaten. Amidst the battle of rival gangs, I've learned that growing up in the heart of a fractured town shapes you into a figure that's far from virtuous. The North Shore of the Falls has bred a relentless spirit within me, one that's integral to my role as a devoted soldier for the North Shore Crew. My focus remains unwavering, my goals set in stone. My sole fixation is to reclaim our town from the grasp of our sworn adversaries, the Kings.
Alexandra Delacroix enters my world, a task rather than a sentiment. She resides in the neighbouring affluent haven known as Stoneview.
