I simultaneously adore and am terrified of this world. So many excellent questions of ethics, morality, and questioning species biases.

I found the first volume lacking, but the story really picked up after that. Similar to the Walking Dead in its post-apocalyptic examination of the human condition, all living creatures gain the ability to communicated. Intriguing philosophical conversations, unique characteristics for each species, and excellent art. There does tend to be a villain of the week element, where interesting, conflicting points of view are presented, but the opposition is dispatched before the legitimacy of their choices is fully explored.
