Star Wars, but make it a Western! Not the best Star Wars fiction I’ve ever read, but good fun! Think I’d have rated higher if I hadn’t left it sitting half-read for about six months.

I found myself trying to push through some parts of the book and thought to myself I would not really wind up enjoying the book as a whole. I'm glad to say I was way off. Towards the end of the book I could not get myself to put it down.

Although the story is told through the eyes of new characters and how they encounter Kenobi, we do learn quite a bit about what life was like for Kenobi in Tatooine. The story has a lot of parallels to events in the prequels and the fate of Anakin Skywalker. Although this was laid out beautifully by Miller, if you don't get the references right away, Miller does a good job of getting the point into the story without having the reader feel dumb or unintelligent. Overall, I loved this book and although you might need to push through some of it, I think it'll likely be worth it by the end.

🎧 - Fun story of Kenobi getting established on Tatooine. I feel like it really captured Obi-Wan; exactly how I’d imagine he’d handle the stuff that came up.

A middle of the road book. It features less Kenobi than I'd expect from a book titled Kenobi. The story was okay but didn't really draw me into the characters or the story very well.

I had the audiobook version of Kenobi.
This is the novel of Obi-Wan Kenobi and his arrival on Tatooine. There is very little Kenobi in the beginning but he is featured shortly after the rest of the cast is introduced. JJM does a great job of bringing a new story into a well-established universe and throwing in only a sprinkling of classic Star Wars while keeping true to the universe.
The voice acting is well done and the soundtrack is minimal.
This story gives a great prequel feel to what Obi-Wan did between episodes three and four, at least in the beginning. This is a great story about a Jedi in Hiding and a classic member of the franchise.

I very much enjoyed this book and missed it as soon as I was finished. Imagine my delight stumbling upon a short story in, "Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View" by the same author featuring a familiar character, the very next evening! It was very comforting to read, "Rites" by John Jackson Miller, to learn a little more about a character I found fascinating.
