If you've read books in the Xanth series, you know they can be kind of formulaic, and this book is no exception, though it captured my interest well. This book focuses on Smash, the half ogre, half curse-fiend. He is feeling unsatisfied and visits the great magician Humphrey. He is tasked with protecting Tandy, and accumulates other creates along his way to the Ancestral ogres. He discovers a great deal about himself along the journey.

This is my second read through of Ogre, Ogre, and I find it to be every bit as fascinating as it was the first time I took this adventure with Smash, maybe more so now that I'm older. Piers Anthony's world of Xanth is an enchanting place that intrigues and inspires. There's no telling what might happen for in Xanth, anything's possible. And yet, with crazy magical happenings, Piers still manages to provide a coherent and logical explanation of the workings of his world.
Any adventure Piers writes is one I'll gladly undertake.

the puns and intentional misspellings had me almost killing myself between groans and giggles LOL, killer book though but dangerous to read and drink coffee at the same time without a lot of mopping up

It sucked me in so much, I had fever dreams featuring a spin-off plot quickened to a sickeningly brisk pace.

I enjoyed this fun book. I was especially happy to find a reference to a William Blake poem in there. Piers Anthony is a clever author.
